How to Power Off and On a Cisco GSR 12000 Linecard Pingsta Validated

Issue the following hidden Cisco IOS EXEC command:

 

To power off a linecard;

  • Router# test mbus power <slot #> off

To power on a linecard;

  • Router# test mbus power <slot #> on

 

Alternatively, use the following documented IOS EXEC commands to administratively shutdown line and fabric cards. This should also be used prior to the removal of switch fabric cards, waiting at least one minute afterwards before actual reomoval. To shutdown a linecard or fabric card, issue;

  • Router#conf t
  • Router(config)#hw-module slot <slot#> shutdown
  • Router(config)#exit

To bring up an adminstratively shutdown linecard or fabric card:

  • Router#conf t
  • Router(config)#no hw-module slot <slot#> shutdown
  • Router(config)#exit
